Executive Chef Marky Godbeer, formerly of Brisbane’s The Calile Hotel, has been appointed to lead Sully’s Rooftop at the new Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel.

Mr Godbeer will oversee the culinary direction for Sully’s Rooftop, the hotel’s signature restaurant located on level 12, when the venue opens this month.

In a statement, KPAT Hotels said Sully’s Rooftop was “designed to deliver modern Australian rooftop dining with panoramic views across Mooloolaba Beach and the Pacific Ocean”.

“(Mr) Godbeer brings extensive experience across international and Australian hospitality, having trained in a Michelin-starred restaurant in England before working as head chef on luxury yachts in the South Pacific,” the statement said.

“After relocating to Australia, he worked at Longitude 131° at Uluru and Silky Oaks Lodge in the Daintree Rainforest, and most recently served as Executive Chef at Brisbane’s Calile Hotel, managing large-scale food and beverage operations.”

KPAT Hotels also announced that Iain Guthrie has been appointed as Venue Manager and will lead the front-of-house experience at the Avani.

The 180-room Avani is developed, owned and operated by KPAT Hotels under a franchise agreement with Minor Hotels.
