What’s On – school holiday events for Easter April 2026

Hop on down for some school holiday fun this Easter with our list of the top things to do to keep kids, teenagers and even the adults entertained in April 2026.

BRISBANE CITY

Playtopia in the park

Join the main program for free at Playtopia in Roma Street Parklands where you can build houses, schools, cars or anything you desire at the Cardboard City to take home or add to the park’s display. There are also movement-focused activities from hip hop dance to touch football and AFL. Bookings are not required for these activities which run from 9am-1pm on April 8- 10 and 15-17 on the Celebration Lawn (for kids aged 5+).

Toy Story

Toy Story the movie will appear on the big screen accompanied by the live music of Queensland Symphony Orchestra which will perform the score from the film including You’ve Got a Friend in MeStrange Things, and I Will Go Sailing No More. Celebrating 31 years since it was released, the screening will be on April 11. For all ages. At the QPAC Concert Hall. For tickets, click here.

Picasso’s etchings

This one is for the older kids in the family. Picasso’s first major body of printmaking work is on display at the Queensland Art Gallery. Sorcerers from Bohemia evokes the free-spirited world of travelling circus performers, or saltimbanques. The series of 15 etchings and drypoints were created on the cusp of Picasso’s Blue and Rose periods. Entry is free. Runs throughout 2026 until February 12, 2027.

Illustration Fair

For some home-grown illustration talent, try the Brisbane Illustration Fair – a market-style fair showcasing emerging and established illustrators. Kids can join the free creative zone or workshop station. Entry is $2, children under 12 are free. At the Brisbane Showgrounds John Reid Pavilion, from 10am-4pm on April 18-19.

Weaving workshops

Also for teens, the Museum of Brisbane has traditional weaving workshops guided by artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Teens will learn the techniques while hearing First People’s stories shared through the practice. Delvene will guide teens step-by-step to create their own unique woven keepsake to take home. Weave & Wonder

The Museum of Brisbane is holding workshops for all ages. Try making your own whale, echidna, koala or crab in the Playful Paper Pals workshop from 10.30am-1.30pm on April 4-19. Tickets $5, no bookings required. Weave & Wonder explores simple weaving techniques for free from 10am-1pm on April 4-19. Magpie Goose is an exhibition with bold colours and patterns that’s aimed at kids 6-12 who can create their own print design to take home.  From 9.15am – 10.15am on April 7, 9, 14 and 16. Big Family Ride

Tour de Brisbane from April 12 features a 4km Big Family Ride so that kids under seven can join in with bike trailers or seats, and those over eight can ride solo at the Botanic Gardens at 7.15am. The event is part of the Brisbane Cycling Festival which runs from March 16-April 12. For more information click here.

Big Top Family Circus

My Big Top Circus Family offers free circus magic with surprises, interactive fun, and colour and energy. Part of the Lord Mayor’s Children’s Program at Brisbane City Hall from 10am or 2pm on April 13. Bookings essential.

Yacht race viewing

Watch the start of the 78th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race along the Moreton Bay shoreline from Shorncliffe to at Redcliffe from 11am on Good Friday, April 3.

Bluewater Festival

The Bluewater Festival at Shorncliffe Pier kicks off from 4-8pm on April 2 with live music and food trucks. On April 3 join the Festival from 9.30am-8pm at Moora Park, Shorncliffe with live bands, rides, food and market stalls with fireworks in the evening. From here you can also see the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

WEST SIDE

Bluey and Bingo

Catch Bluey and her little sister Bingo for a live interactive experience on stage at Tulmur Pl, Nicholas Street Precinct, Ipswich from 10am-2pm on April 7-10. Free entry.

Water park

The Springfield Water Park is set in 24ha of landscaped parklands with a massive lagoon built to rival South Bank, water play and activity areas, a kids wading area, multi-level swimming pool with a 50m lap lane, playgrounds and a café. Open 8am-4pm. Free entry.

SOUTH SIDE

Easter Bunny at Beenleigh

Look out for the Easter Bunny at the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum’s Easter Picnic from 9am-1pm on April 4, 2026. There will be an all-denominations Easter service in the heritage listed church at 8.30am, followed by bonnet parades and easter crafts throughout the day, and an easter egg hunt at 10.30am. Entry is $2 or $5 which includes participation in the easter egg hunt. Register here.

ImagiNation Festival

The ImagiNation Children’s Festival is a free family Logan council event for children up to age 12. Join the activities, workshops, entertainment and competitions. Explore the six magical “worlds”– Nature, Creative, Digital, Cultural, Entertainment, and Action – and collect stamps for the chance to win a prize pack. Food trucks will also be available. From 9am-3pm on April 18 at the Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct.

SUNSHINE COAST

Colour frenzy

The Colour Frenzy includes a fun run, foam and bubbles, obstacles, and colour stations where you can get splashed with different colours. $5 for kids under 5. Money raised will support local animal rescues. From 8.30am on April 12 at Sunshine Coast Stadium Parklands, Bokarina. For more information and tickets, click here.

Bond with butterflies

Celebrate butterflies at the council’s environmental visitor centres. The program is full of fun craft and adventure. Registration is essential and tickets are $10 per child per workshop. From April 4-16. For tickets and locations and times click here.

GOLD COAST

Supernova Comic Con

Cosplay as your favourite superhero at the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming event from 10am-6pm on April 11-12 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Children under 12 are free. For more information and tickets, click here.
