Lawnmowers, pets and even a chainsaw are just some of the 400 prohibited items confiscated from train travellers on Queensland Rail in 2025.
Oversized, unsafe, or banned items can pose safety risks, Queensland Rail General Manager Security and Emergency Preparedness Drew Brock said in a statement.
“Most customers do the right thing, but we continue to see a small number of people bringing items that can cause disruption, discomfort to other passengers, or even danger,” Mr Brock said.
“Customers should avoid bringing any sizeable objects that can’t be stored under a seat or in a designated area, and be aware that only assistance animals are allowed onboard.
“Bikes and e-scooters must be kept in the first and last carriages of six car trains, and aisles, doorways and priority seating areas must remain clear.
Alcohol, vaping and smoking are prohibited on all Queensland Rail property.
