The Bureau of Meteorology says there is a “minor to moderate” risk of flooding across most of Queensland with rain forecast to continue in the early part of this week.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across parts of northern, central, and southeastern Queensland off the back of a broad trough.
“Catchments across the Central Coast and parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay are wet to saturated from recent rainfall,” the Bureau said.
“Catchments along the southeastern coast and throughout central Queensland are beginning to become wet due to recent rainfall and will respond quickly to further heavy rainfall. Multiple minor to major Flood Warnings are current across Queensland.”
Catchments likely to be affected include:
- Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam
- Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam
- Comet and Nogoa Rivers
- Dawson and Don Rivers
- Mackenzie and Fitzroy Rivers and Shoalwater and Water Park Creeks
- Calliope River
- Boyne River
- Pine and Caboolture Rivers
- Sunshine Coast Rivers and Creeks
- Logan and Albert Rivers
- Gold Coast Rivers and Creeks
- Macintyre River
- Weir River
- Moonie River
- Condamine Rivers
- Balonne River
- The Big Warrambool River
- Wallam and Mungallala Creeks
- Warrego River (QLD)
- Leichhardt River
- Cloncurry River
- Gilbert River
- Staaten River
- Bulloo River (QLD)
- Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam
- Mitchell River (elevated levels expected along Magnificent Creek at Kowanyama)
- Lower Brisbane River (for Brisbane Creeks. Riverine flooding along the lower Brisbane River not expected at this stage)
- Diamantina River (for Western River (Winton) catchment )
Flood Warnings are current for the following catchments: Burdekin downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam, Don and Proserpine, Pioneer, Connors, Isaac and Styx and Plane, Baffle, Kolan, Burnett, Burrum and Cherwell, Mary, Noosa, Upper Brisbane, Paroo, Nicholson, Upper Flinders, Lower Flinders, Norman, Georgina and Eyre, Diamantina, Thomson and Barcoo
Flooding is no longer expected in the following catchments: Daintree, Mossman, Barron, Mulgrave and Russell, Johnstone, Murray, Black and Ross and Bohle
