Francophiles and cinema lovers are in for a treat when the 2027 French Film Festival opens on Thursday in Brisbane. Now in its 37th year, each night has a different theme designed to appeal to everyone.
The Opening Night Gala kicks off with Colours of Time or La Venue de l’avenir. Set between contemporary France and the 19th century, it follows a group of distant relatives who uncover the story of a mysterious ancestor in an abandoned Normandy estate. A flamboyant archaeologist drags his daughter and grandson on a treasure-hunt through Paris’ secret museum archives and hidden chambers for Pharaoh Khufu’s lost artefacts. The festival will close with an Australian premiere of Rodrigue in Love or Avignon which won the Grand Prix and Audience Award at last year’s 28th Festival International du Film de Comedie de l’Alpe d’Huez. Wednesday April 8 at 6.15pm, Palace Barracks.
