The Queensland Government will lift the cap on concerts at Suncorp Stadium in the hope that more big acts will be attracted to Brisbane.

The change means up to 21 concerts can be staged at the stadium in 2026. The previous limit was 12 per year.

The annual concert cap was lifted from six concerts to 12 in 2025 after a successful trial period.

Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the Government was responding to strong demand for more major acts to come to Brisbane.

“Queensland’s ability to host world-class events shows exactly why we are increasingly becoming the home of major sports and events in Australia,” Mr Mander said.

“By temporarily lifting the concert cap we can secure more global tours, support local jobs and strengthen Brisbane’s reputation as a world-class events destination as we build toward the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Mr Mander said the Government would continue to work with local residents to keep them informed about upcoming events.

British Entertainer Ed Sheeran is the latest act to use Suncorp Stadium, performing for three nights this weekend.

The stadium, in its usual configuration, has 52,000 seats.
