A new online hub has been launched to increase the employment opportunities for people with disability.

The Centre for Inclusive Employment’s new suite of online resources draws on expertise from people with disability, researchers, disability and employment service providers and family advocacy groups.

Swinburne University of Technology’s Dr Jenny Crosbie, who is Interim Director of the Centre, said the hub provided real solutions that helped people with disability into jobs.

Dr Crosbie said it would deliver information and training that could improve outcomes for people with disabilities.

“We’ve brought together the best evidence and translated it into practical tools and resources that can be widely used,” she said.

“Until now, a lot of this information has been in academic literature, locked behind paywalls, or scattered across websites. We’re bringing it all together in one place, in simple language.”

Dr Crosbie said the goal was to ensure people with disabilities, their families and providers worked together with the same understanding of what worked, with equal access to that information.

She said the first set of resources focused on improving people’s understanding of disability, and the strategies that engaged employers in building inclusive workplaces.

“This is the starting line, not the finish line. The Centre is launching this online hub as a single point of access for information about disability and employment, and we will keep building it out over time.”
