McCullough Robertson Lawyers will use its centenary in 2026 to honour the thousands of clients and people who have trusted and supported them over so many years.

Joint Managing Partner Guy Humble said the firm had only achieved the 100-year milestone through the support of clients, its people, alumni and community partners.

“We recognise and are incredibly grateful for the contributions of so many in making McR what it is today, and for the trust our clients have placed in us,” he said.

“But we are most excited about the future and the next 100 years, driven by collaboration, the success of our clients and our people, innovation and community impact.”

“McCullough & Robertson” was officially formed on January 1, 1926.  The “&” was dropped from the name in 1987.

Co-founder Robert McCullough came from Barcaldine in western Queensland and Jack (known as Jock) Robertson was from Brisbane.

They started as a generalist law firm with mostly pastoral clients and progressively expanded to areas like tax and estate planning, corporate law and now full service corporate and commercial practices.

The firm has grown to have 60 partners and over 450 staff across its offices in Brisbane and Sydney.

Mr Humble said McR had become known for its unique culture and commitment to creating opportunities for its people.

McR Chair of Partners Kristan Conlon said the firm remains “strong and independent” as it marks 100 years.

“We honour our history and the leadership that has brought us here, and we are proud of the platform we have for the future,” she said.

“Our commitment is to preserve the essence of McR and to leave a legacy of community contribution as we embark on the next 100 years.”

In January, the firm will release details on how it will use the 100-year milestone to launch a new community initiative.
