Up to 30,000 jobs are on offer as the Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS) looks to build its team to deliver the 2026 Census.
Census General Manager Jenny Telford said the Census temporary workforce played a critical role in ensuring all Australians could participate in the upcoming count.
Ms Telford said the first jobs available were Census Engagement Managers, who would be leading outreach activities to support high rates of Census participation within their communities.
“By being a part of the Census team, people have an opportunity to ensure their community is accurately reflected in the 2026 data,” she said.
“We’re seeking people who reflect the diversity of their communities, including those who speak multiple languages or have strong local connections.”
Ms Telford said in the coming months additional jobs would be advertised.
“These jobs will be important in connecting with and supporting remote and regional communities, including engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.”
