A new leadership team is in place at the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA).

Queensland Housing Minister Sam O’Connor said Steve Davidson had been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, while Brook Monahan is the new Chair of the RTA Board.

Minister O’Connor said the new team, which included three new Board directors, provided renewal at the authority, with a focus on ensuring stability for renters and property owners across Queensland.

He said Mr Davidson brought extensive experience in service delivery, business transformation and customer engagement from his senior executive roles at Australian Retirement Trust.

“Steve has the right skills and experience to modernise service delivery and build confidence in the RTA.”

Minister O’Connor said Mr Monahan, founder and Managing Director of Mosaic Property Group, also established the Mosaic Foundation, which supported grassroots organisations working with at-risk and disadvantaged youth.

He said through this he had contributed countless volunteer hours and millions of dollars to support organisations like Emmanuel City Mission.

“Brook brings deep industry knowledge and a strong social conscience through his charitable work supporting so many vulnerable Queenslanders.”

Minister O’Connor said the three new Board directors were:

  • Paul Spiro: Respected property law expert and business leader, and Chair of the Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
  • Connie McKee: Real estate trainer, small business owner and respected industry professional with 40 years of experience.
  • Colin Cassidy: Governance specialist, former senior public servant with decades of experience across state development, planning and regional investment.

“The Residential Tenancies Authority plays an important role supporting renters, property owners, and real estate professionals and these experienced new appointments will make sure this organisation is working as well as it possibly can,” he said.
