Almost $700 million will be allocated to the supporting the new Mater Hospital Springfield in this week’s Queensland State Budget.

Treasurer David Janetzki said $638 million, to be spent over four years, would in the Budget he hands down tomorrow (June 24), to fund operational requirements at the new hospital south-west of Brisbane, when it opened in 2026.

Treasurer Janetzki said the funding would support delivery of 174 beds, high-quality maternity and paediatric care, and 12 new paediatric beds in the rapidly growing region.

He said the funding would ensure the Mater Hospital Springfield was staffed and could deliver critical public healthcare services.

“This Budget funding will equip the hospital to meet the region’s current healthcare needs, while ensuring it is future-proofed to cater for growing demand,” Treasurer Janetzki said.
