There will be more than 400 commemorative events held across Queensland this Friday to commemorate ANZAC Day.
RSL Queensland State President Major General Stephen Day is encouraging Queenslanders to embrace the ANZAC spirit.
“It is a day for people of all ages to reflect and honour the selflessness and courage of our service personnel,” Major General Day said.
“Across the state, there will be more than 400 commemorative events, from Dawn Services and gunfire breakfasts to mid-morning services, marches and parades to acknowledge and recognise the service of veterans and current serving Defence members.”
He said ANZAC Day had evolved into a day of profound significance for veterans and our nation.
“It honours the bravery displayed on the shores of Gallipoli 110 years ago and the remarkable contribution made by those who have followed in their footsteps.
“ANZAC Day reminds us of the sacrifices that our service members, both past and present, have made to help guard the way of life we are fortunate to have.”
