Australia’s Bollywood feature film Hindi Vindi, staring music star Guy Sebastian, hits cinemas next week.
Industry website FilmInk reports the movie will mark Sebastian’s acting debut when it hits the big screens around the country on February 27.
The website wrote Hindi Vindi not only marked a milestone for Australian and Indian cinema, but was also one of the first feature films to set a precedent under the recently signed India-Australia Co-Production Treaty.
Shot in Sydney the film tells the story of Kabir, played Bollywood star Mihir Ahuja, a teenage musician on a journey of self-discovery as he races against time to create a song in a language he doesn’t speak.
FilmInk said the announcement last year of Sebastian’s involvement in the film was met with excitement from both fans and the entertainment industry.
“Known worldwide for his remarkable career as a singer, musician, songwriter, and multi–ARIA Award-winning artist, Guy takes on his first significant acting role in Hindi Vindi, as Kabir’s Anglo-Indian father, James, a role which saw him drawing parallels from his own blended family background including his own mother’s Anglo-Indian heritage,” the website wrote.
“Guy also contributed to the film’s soundtrack, writing and performing on three of the seven original songs, alongside renowned Bollywood film composer Javed-Mohsin.”
It stated the film also featured Sebastian’s original composition Made of Heart as the film’s lead single, a song he wrote with Grammy Award-winning producers The Orphanage, who also worked on Sebastian’s hit single Choir.
