Iconic English rock band Black Sabbath’s original line-up will play together for the first time in 20 years for the band’s final concert.

A statement on the band’s website said Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward would hit the stage to headline a Back to the Beginning concert on July 5 in Birmingham.

It said the all-star event would celebrate the “true creators of heavy metal” and see Ozzy Osbourne play his own short set before joining with Black Sabbath for his final bow.

“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning. Time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy Osbourne said.

Music Director Tom Morello said: “This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever.”

Mr Morello said Black Sabbath formed in Birmingham in 1968 and went on to become one of most successful metal bands of all time, having sold over 75 million albums worldwide.

He said Black Sabbath’s influence and importance was as vital today as it was in the early 1970s.

Back to the Beginning will also feature sets from Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Mastodon.
