Calling all goat farmers, print journalists and tour guides. Australia needs you.

The trio of professions are among the more than 450 occupations listed on the Federal Government’s new Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL).

Immigration Minister Tony Burke said the new targeted CSOL was designed to attract skilled migrants who would make a significant contribution to the Australian economy, including in the housing sector.

Minister Burke said the new CSOL would fill positions where no Australian workers were available.

He said it comprised 456 occupations, including in the construction, agriculture, cyber security, health and education sectors.

“The CSOL is based on labour market analysis and stakeholder consultation undertaken by Jobs and Skills Australia.

“It will apply to the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa and the Direct Entry stream of the permanent Employer Nomination Scheme.”
