A glimpse into the future of community spaces has been revealed on the Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast Council has released a fly-through video of what its new Caloundra Library will feature when completed in the middle of next year. SEE THE VIDEO BELOW.
Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg said the immersive video showcased the state-of-the-art facility and dynamic spaces that would become a central hub for Caloundra residents and the wider Sunshine Coast community.
“The new Library+ will be a beacon of modern design and functionality, spread over three levels,” Cr Landsberg said.
“The ground floor will feature an open foyer and event space with tiered seating, kids’ space, an outdoor activity deck, a young adult area, a quiet lounge, a creative space and reading lounge, a kiosk and a customer service centre.
“Level 1 will house a spacious foyer and exhibition space, the main library collections, a makerspace to develop creative projects, digital studios, and meeting rooms.”
Cr Landsberg said Level 2 would feature another open foyer and large flexible community meeting areas and Council administration offices.
He said the current Caloundra Library, 8 Omrah Avenue, would host pubic 3D tours of the project between November 18 and December 1.
“This interactive experience will allow our community to explore and discover what the repurposed Caloundra Administration Building will look like once the transformation is completed in mid-2025.”
