Queensland’s new Parliament will sit for six days before Christmas, with the Government’s crime laws the first legislation to be considered.

Premier David Crisafulli said Parliament would sit on November 26, 27 and 28 and again on December 10, 11 and 12.

Premier Crisafulli said the Making Queensland Safer Laws would be the first laws introduced to the new Parliament and would be legislated before the end of 2024.

He said the Bill would be introduced in the first sitting in November, and considered by a Parliamentary Committee, before it was debated in the second sitting of Parliament in December.

“The Making Queensland Safer Laws will be the first piece of legislation introduced by our Government and those laws will be passed by Christmas,” Premier Crisafulli said.

He said the Bill would bring “Adult Crime, Adult Time” into law and remove detention as a last resort for young offenders.
