Warwick, Chinchilla, Innisfail and Central-West Queensland will be home to Regional University Study Hubs after the latest locations were announced today.
Study hubs aim to bring university closer to regional students by providing spaces to support students, including those from low socio-economic backgrounds, First Nations students and people with disabilities.
The four new hubs are among 10 announced today across the country, bringing the national total to 46.
The study hub in Central-West Queensland will have sites located in Longreach, Barcaldine, Blackall, Winton, Boulia, Bedourie, Birdsville and Jundah.
In response to the Universities Accord Interim Report, there are plans to double the number of University Study Hubs across Australia.
There are plans to establish 20 more Regional University Study Hubs, and up to 14 new Suburban University Study Hubs in the outer suburbs of major cities.
Applications for the next 10 Regional and for 14 Suburban University Study Hubs will open in coming months.
The current hubs support more than 3400 students, studying more than 1000 different courses, through more than 200 tertiary education providers.
The new Regional University Study Hubs will be available to students over the next 12 months.
